American Watercolor Society
Annual International Exhibition 2012
Leslie Frontz, AWS
A watercolor by Leslie Frontz titled Curb Appeal (at right) will be included in the 145th American Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition. The painting will be on display at the Salmagundi Club in New York City from April 3 through April 22, 2012. Leslie Frontz was elected to membership in the American Watercolor Society in 2011, joining a small but elite group of national and international artists who have earned the privilege of including the letters AWS when affixing their signature to their paintings.
The American Watercolor Society has a rich history, and many renowned artists were and are members. It was organized in 1866 to promote the art of watercolor painting in America. Former members have included Winslow Homer, Charles Burchfield and Childe Hassam. The model for all societies that followed, AWS is the oldest society of its kind in the United States. Today, the AWS exhibition promotes contemporary watercolor artists from around the world.
